সুপ্রিয় শিক্ষার্থী বন্ধুরা, আজ আমরা ইংরেজি ২য় পত্রের Part-A: Grammar অংশে Sentence Connector নিয়ে আলোচনা করছি।
Sentence Connector
Sentence অর্থ বাক্য Connector অর্থ সংযোগকারী। সুতরাং Sentence connector term- টির অর্থ কোনো Sentence বা idea বাক্যে সংযোগকারী শব্দ। যেমন:Shohel is good at swimming, tennis and hockey. Furthermore/Besides, he has also represented the college in cricket.
Explanation: উল্লেখিত Sentence দু’টিতে দেখতে পাই Further more / Besides শব্দগুলো দু’টি বাক্যের initial - এ অবস্থান করছে এরং প্রথম Sentence এ আলোচিত তথ্য সম্পর্কে additional (অতিরিক্ত) তথ্য প্রদান করেছে। এ জাতীয় word/ words English Language- এ Sentence connector হিসেবে পরিচিত।
Sentence Connector এর Importance বা গুরুত্ব:
1. Sentence Connector, Sentence এর প্রথমে বসে থাকে যাকে Language এর পরিভাষায় initial position বলে।
2. Sentence Connector দু’টি idea এর মধ্যে একটি Relationship তৈরি করে।
3. Sentence Connector গুলো Paragraph এর Coherence (সঙ্গতি) বজায় রাখে।
4. Sentence Connector হলো Sentence এর মধ্যে সম্পর্ক স্থাপনকারী ‘Bridge’ যার মাধ্যমে writing style-টি
Sophisticated হয়।
5. Sentence Connector, Sentence গুলোর মধ্যে ধারাবাহিকতা এবং বাক্যের মধ্যে অর্থ সঙ্গতি বজায় রাখে।
Sentence Connector এর Use বা ব্যবহার
1. কোনো গঠন, ফলাফল পর্যায়ক্রমে সাজানোর জন্য আমরা Firstly, Secondly, Thirdly, First of all, Next, Then Finally, To start with , Last of all এ জাতীয় Sentence Connector গুলো ব্যবহার করি। যেমন:- There are three reasons for my resignation. Firstly, I am dissatisfied with my wages; Secondly, the hours are too long; and finally, there is little chance of promotion.
2. পূর্বে দেওয়া Information (তথ্য) এর সাথে মিল দেখিয়ে নতুন তথ্য দেওয়ার জন্য আমরা Correspondingly, Equally, Likewise, Similarly ইত্যাদি Sentence Connector ব্যবহার করি।
Example: i) The new exam is longer. Correspondingly, (একইভাবে) it is more difficult to pass.
ii) She has high responsibilities. Equally (সমভাবে) he gets a high salary.
iii) She was last. Similarly (অনুরূপভাবে) I was delayed.
3. পূর্বে দেওয়া Information (তথ্য) -এর ওপর জোর দেওয়ার জন্য আরও তথ্য যুক্ত করতে আমরা Above all, Again, Further, Furthermore, Moreover, Besides, In addition, Not only that ইত্যাদি Sentence connector বা বাক্যে সংযোগকারী ব্যবহার করি।
Example: i) He has opportunity and motivation. Above all the courage to do it.
ii) The man was beaten up. Further, he was arrested.
iii) Mr. Khan is a good teacher. Moreover (অধিকন্তু, তাছাড়া) he is a good writer.
4. পূর্ববর্তী বক্তব্যের বিপরীত বা শ্রোতার প্রত্যাশার বিপরীত কিছু বলতে আমরা Actually, Infact, As a matter of fact ইত্যাদি Sentence Connector (বাক্যে বা ভাব সংযোগকারী) ব্যবহার করি।
Example: i) Can I call you back? Actually, I am busy at this moment.
ii) I used to live in France.Infact(প্রকৃত পক্ষে)it is not far from where you are going.
iii) He looks younger than his wife. As a matter of fact (প্রকৃত পক্ষে) he is older.
