2. Ans:(a)The Pakistani army kept Bangabandhu in a small cell in Pakistan. He was given capital punishment. A grave was dug before his cell. However, it could not diminish his courage. He believed that the Bangalees should surely achieve their independence.
(b) Bangabandhu was arrested and captivated in a Pakistani prison. The whole world expected to witness his release. But it was not easy for him to leave Pakistan. The rulers gave him capital punishment, and were preparing to execute him. Then Bangladesh was truly liberated on the 16th December, 1971. To fulfill the expectations of international community, the Pakistan government was compelled to release him.
(c)Yes, Bangabandhu was paid an honourable reception in London. When he arrived at Heathrow Airport, London on 8 January 1972, the news spread soon and journalists, politicians, officials and common people rushed to Hotel Claridges, where he stayed. The BBC and other media organizations highlighted his arrival. He met the British Prime Minister and the Leader of the opposition. He also attended a news conference.
(d) Bangabandhu talked to his family members and Tajuddin Ahmad after long nine months. Now he had a clear picture of the happenings during his absence in Bangladesh. He also came to know that Bangladesh had truly been liberated. As Bangabandhu became sure that his dream had come true, his talks with them created emotional reaction in him and the others.
(e) Bangabandhu's speech at the news conference had a poetic touch. He expressed the joy of freedom achieved by the Bangalees. He assured that the newly born country Bangladesh would fulfill its obligations as a part of international community. He also promised to trial the war criminals.
