The poet was died before he finished his swansong শব্দের অর্থ- swansong = কোন ব্যক্তির সর্বশেষ অর্জন বা বৃতিত্ব। সমাধান- যে কাজটা আগে হলো, তার মানে, কবি মারা গেলো আগে, তাই before-এর আগে had died হবে। উত্তর হবে (A)। 08. He put on his hat went out. সমাধান- S@ifur’s Gramm@r বই থেকে নেয়া নিচের ব্যাখ্যাগুলো একটু মন দিয়ে পড়ে নিই। Complex বাক্য চেনার উপায়: (A) I scolded him as he did this. (স্বাধীন বা simple বাক্য) (নির্ভরশীল বা অধীন বাক্য) (A)-এ প্রথমে আছে ঃ I scolded him (আমি বকেছিলাম তাকে)। এটি একটি simple বাক্য। এর পর আছে: as he did this (যেহেতু সে করেছিল ইহা)। এই অংশটি একটি অসম্পূর্ণ কথা, কেননা, “যেহেতু সে করেছিলো এটা” বললে কথাটা শেষ হয় না। তাই, as he did this হলো একটি নির্ভরশীল বাক্য। তার মানে, (A) হলো = একটি স্বাধীন বাক্য + একটি অধীন বাক্য। অতএব, A হলো একটি complex বাক্য। Complex শব্দটির বাংলা অর্থ হলো “জটিল”। আর জটিল জিনিস মানেই হলো পেচানো তথা ঘোর প্যাঁচ। এখন complex বাক্যের নাম কেন complex রাখা হলো? আসলে যে সব ইংরেজী বাক্যে একটা পূর্ণাঙ্গ বাক্য এবং একটা অপূর্ণাঙ্গ বাক্য, তার মানে দু ধরনের বাক্য থাকে, ইংরেজীতে সেসব বাক্যকে জটিল বাক্য বা complex বাক্য বলে। আরো complex বাক্যের উদাহরণ- i. I scolded him as he lied. (আমি বকেছিলাম তাকে যেহেতু সে মিথ্যা বলেছিল।) ii. I scolded him as he stole. iii. I scolded him as he did not do his homework. as he did this অর্থাত্, “যেহেতু সে করেছিলো এটা” বললে কথাটা শেষ হয় না, আরো কিছু বলার থাকে। এ রকম কিছু উদাহরণ নীচে দেয়া হলো: which was flying (যেটি উড়ছিল) which are valuable(যেগুলো মূল্যবান) in which I live(যেটিতে আমি বাস করি....) এ ধরণের অসম্পূর্ণ কথা কোনো বাক্যে থাকলে, সেটা হয় complex বাক্য। 09.
