উপযুক্ত preposition ব্যবহার করে শূন্যস্থানে পূরণ ইংরেজি দ্বিতীয়পত্র মো. জসিম উদ্দীন বিশ্বাস প্রভাষক, ইংরেজি বিভাগ, ঢাকা রেসিডেনসিয়াল মডেল কলেজ The Preposition প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ, আজ ইংরেজি ২য় পত্রের ২ নং প্রশ্ন অর্থাত্ The Preposition নিয়ে আলোচনা করবো। এ অংশে 6 টি শূন্যস্থান সংবলিত একটি নির্দিষ্ট passage দেওয়া থাকবে যার পূর্ণমান ৩। উপযুক্ত preposition ব্যবহার করে শূন্যস্থানে পূরণ করতে হবে। সে সকল word কোন noun বা pronoun এর পূর্বে ব্যবহূত হয়ে Sentence এর অন্যান্য word এর সঙ্গে সম্পর্কে স্থাপন করে, তাদেরকে preposition বলে। গতকালের পর দিক নির্দেশ বা লক্ষ নির্দেশ করতে on, into, on, to, towards, up, down ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমন:He is above me in rank. He climbed up a tree. He is going to school . He fired on the enemy. He is kind towards the poor. He walked across road. সম্বন্ধসূচক স্থিতি বা অবস্থান বুঝাতে between, among or, amongst, ইত্যাদি Preposition ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ There is no difference amongst us. There is unity among the boys. There is a village among the hills. There is friendship between Kamal and Jamil. Switzerland lies between France and Germany. লক্ষ্য বুঝাতে to এবং from ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমন: He is going to market. She was going to hospital for treatment. They are coming from school. I had a phone call from my cousin. অবস্থান এবং অবস্থা বুঝাতে at, in, on, under ইত্যাদি Preposition ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ Translate into English. Love turned into hatred. Ice melts into water. Speak clearly into the microphone. লক্ষ্য বা উদ্দেশ্য বুঝাতে for ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ He bought a pen for Mohan. He has started for Chittagong. He died for his country. He lives for others. উত্পত্তি ক্ষেত্র বা উত্স বুঝাতে from বা of ব্যবহূত হয় ।যেমনঃ It is a poem of Nazrul. This road runs from Dhaka to Sylthet. He comes of a rich family. I borrowed a book from the library. পৃথক হওয়া বা পৃথক করার জন্য from এবং off ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ Leaves are falling from the tree. He is off duty now. He is away from home. The dog jumped off the chair. বস্তুু এবং উপাচার বুঝাতে of, from ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ This chair is made of wood. Steel is made from iron. We make butter from milk. কোন কিছু দ্বারা বা কোন কিছুর মাধ্যমে একটি কাজ সম্পন্ন হলে তার পূর্বে by, in, with, without ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ He came here by car. This play was written by Minhaj. He speaks in English. The house was destroyed by fire. We see with our eyes. We can’t see without eyes. কারণ বুঝাতে from, of, for, with ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ My uncle died of cholera. He died from loss of blood. He is trembling with fear. He will suffer for his bad habits. কোন কিছুর পরিমাপ বা মান বুঝাতে at, by, for, to ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ Rice sells at taka 25 a kilo. It is ten by my watch. She is rather tall for her age. She is good at figure. My mother is good at cooking. He is clever at games. 13.একসঙ্গে বুঝাতে with, without ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ I played with my friends. He came without his umbrella. সমর্থন বুঝাতে for এবং বিরোধিতা বুঝাতে against ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ I stand for my friend. He is against the judgment.
