That day I went to the school to fetch my report card when this pretty dragonfly caught my eyes. I was overwhelmed with its sight. Unable to resist myself from learning about it, later, I found that it is called 'Pied Paddy Skimmer' and is one of the species of a dragonfly from the Arthropoda Phylum of Animalia kingdom. It is a member of the largest dragonfly family in the world- 'The Libellulidae.' The scientific name for this species is 'Neurothemistullia'.
Mostly, these insects are available in South and South-East Asia throughout the year. They breed in estuary, wetlands, well-vegetated ponds, and paddy or rice fields. Their abdomen is usually 16-20 mm, and the wings have a length of 20-23 mm. These dull-brown eyed skimmers are commonly black with a
pale yellow mid-dorsal carina of thorax, and base halves of their wings are opaque black blue, bordered by a mild white patch on the way to the transparent tips. Furthermore, the male skimmers have black dyed sides, whereas the wings of the females are golden yellow with dark spots.
