NARRATION
 

“ Must” এর পরিবর্তন

Must  সাধারণত : had  to তে পরিণত হয়।           

Direct:Ruma said, “ I must do the work.” Indirect:Ruma  said that she had to do the work.# First person- এ must কোনো ভবিষ্যত কাজের  দ্বারা বাধ্যবাধকতা  বোঝাতে  Indirect speech এ would have to তে পরিণত হয়। Direct: He said, “ we must leave the house if the rent is increased.”Indirect:He said that they  would have to leave the house if the rent was increased. চিরকালীন বাধ্যবাধকতা  বোঝাতে  must   কোনো পরিবর্তন হয় না।

 Direct: The  teacher  said to his students, “You must obey your parents.

Iidirect: : The teacher said to his students  that they must obey their parents.

Direct speech-  এ “Thank you”  থাকলে তাকে indirect করার নিয়ম:

Structure:  Sub+thank/thanked+object.

Direct:He said, “Thank you.”

Indirect:He thanked me.

Good-bye যুক্ত Direct speech কে Indirect করার নিয়ম:

Sub+bid/bade+object+good-bye

Direct:He said, “Good-bye my friends.”

Indirect: He bade his good-bye.

Direct speech- এ Good morning/ good evening/good night থাকলে  indirect  করার নিয়ম:

Structure: Sub+wish/wished+object+good morning/good evening/good night.

Direct:I said to him, “Good morning.”

Indirect: I wished him good morning.

Reporting verb ও তার  sub এবং object উল্লেখ না থাকলে the speaker said to the person spoken to লিখে Indirect করতে হয়।

Direct: “I shall go to school tomorrow”

Indirect: The speaker said to the person spoken to that he (s) would go to school the next day.
 Direct speech- এ বক্তা ও শ্রোতা উভয় proper noun  হলে  Indirect  করার সময় pronoun এর পাশে ব্রাকেটের মধ্যে উক্ত pronoun টি যে ব্যক্তির পরিবর্তে বসেছে সেই ব্যক্তির নামের প্রথম অক্ষর লিখতে হয়।

 Direct: Sumon said to Ripon, “ I have taken your book.”

 Indirect: Sumon told Ripon that he (s) had taken his (R) book.

Assertive Sentence:
Assertive Sentence- এর Indirect Speech-এ Reporting verb of Saying-কে পরিবর্তন না করলে ও চলে। তবে object থাকলে ‘Tell’ verb- ও ব্যবহূত হয়। উভয় স্থলে that দিয়ে যোগ করা হয়ে থাকে। যেমন:-
Structure: Sub+say/tell+object ( যদি থাকে)+that+reported speech এর sub+verb+ext.

Direct : Luna said to Rina, ‘I helped you.’
Indirect : Luna said to  Rina that he had helped him.
Direct : She said to me, ‘I love you.’
Indirect : She said to  me that she loved me.
Interrogative Sentence:
Interrogative Sentence- এর Indirect Speech-এ
Reporting verb of saying-  এর পরিবর্তে ask, enquire of,প্রভৃতি verb ব্যবহূত হয়।
