The Preposition প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ, আজ ইংরেজি ২য় পত্রের ২ নং প্রশ্ন অর্থাত্ The Preposition নিয়ে আলোচনা করবো। এ অংশে 6 টি শূন্যস্থান সংবলিত একটি নির্দিষ্ট passage দেওয়া থাকবে যার পূর্ণমান ৩। উপযুক্ত preposition ব্যবহার করে শূন্যস্থানে পূরণ করতে হবে। গত রবিবারের পর কোন বিষয় বা বস্তু বুঝালে তার পূর্বে on, about ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ I am reading a book on English grammar. I told him about my school. Write a paragraph about/ on your school. He is careless about his health. কিছু বহুল ব্যবহূত Preposition এর ব্যবহারঃ At এর ব্যবহারঃ ঘড়ির সময় বা নির্দিষ্ট সময় বুঝাতে at ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ Rihat came home at nine o’clock. The birds start chirping at dawn. I usually get up at 6 o’clock. He goes to school at 10 a.m. I could not sleep at midnight. He will come at 8:30 p.m. সরকারি ছুটির বা উত্সবের দিনে at dawn ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ the end of / the beginning of month/ week/ year ইত্যাদির পূর্বে at ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ I will see you at the end of January. My father will go to London at the beginning of March. খাবার সময়ের পূবে র্at ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ Please phone me at lunchtime. He will come there at dinner time. নির্দিষ্ট জায়গা বুঝাতে তার পূর্বে at ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ He lives at Dhanmondi. I arrived at Kamalapur station at 7 o’clock. He waited at the bus stop for over twenty minutes. দলগত কার্যবলীর পূর্বে at ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ There were many people at the party. The principal delivered his speech at the meeting. He met Rahat at the concert. কোন কাজের কারণ, কাজের উত্স, কাজের অবস্থান বা প্রতিক্রিয়া বুঝাতে at ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ He was shocked at his father’s sudden death. He was upset at his failure in the examination. I was delighted at my son’s success. He was alarmed at the news. কোন বিষয় দক্ষতা বা অদক্ষতা বুঝাতে at ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ Rima is good at Mathematices. Lotush is good at typing. কোন ব্যক্তি বয়স বা পণ্যের মূল্য বুঝাতে তার পূর্বে at ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ He left school at the age of 15. Rice sells at taka 30 a kilo. In এর ব্যবহারঃ দীর্ঘ সময় (seasons, months, years, decades) এর পূর্বে in ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ I was born in March. Our house was built in the 19th century. He learnt driving in three months. He will leave for home in a few hours. দিনের অংশ বিশেষ (in the afternoon, in the morning, in the evening) বুঝালে তার পূর্বে in ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ I usually get up from bed early in the morning. He plays football with his friends in the evening. কোন কিছুর মধ্যে আছে বুঝালে তার পূর্বে in ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ He lives in a tent. I live in a room. Don’t play in the class. Don’t shout in the classroom. অনেক বেশি আয়তন (cities, states, countries, continents, world, universe) বুঝালে তার পূর্বে in ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ He lives at a village in France but my uncle lives in London. Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
