The Preposition প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ, আজ ইংরেজি ২য়পত্রের ২ নং প্রশ্ন অর্থাত্ The Preposition নিয়ে আলোচনা করবো। এ অংশে 6 টি শূন্যস্থান সংবলিত একটি নির্দিষ্ট passage দেওয়া থাকবে যার পূর্ণমান ৩। উপযুক্ত preposition ব্যবহার করে শূন্যস্থান পূরণ করতে হবে। মঙ্গলবারের পর In এর ব্যবহারঃ Hospital, church, school, newspapers, magazine ইত্যাদির পূর্বে in ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ I was in a hospital last year. He wrote an article in the daily Ittefaq. কোন লাইনের অংশ বিশেষ বুঝাতে পূর্বে in ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ There is a misprint in the line on page 6. On এর ব্যবহারঃ সাধারণত নির্দিষ্ট দিন বা তারিখ ইত্যাদির পূর্বে on ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ We went to a party on Easter Sunday. Come and see us on Christmas day. I have got a meeting on Monday morning. বৈদ্যুতিক সরঞ্জামাদির পূর্বে সাধারণত on ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ He is now talking on phone. Is there anything good on the television tonight? ডানদিক বা বাম দিক বুঝাতে on ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ In England we drive on the left side of the road and not on the right side. কোন ভবনের floor বুঝালে তার পূর্বে on ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ He lives in a flat on the third floor. কোন কিছুর উপবিভাগ স্পর্শ করে থাকলে তার পূর্বে on ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ He sat on the bench in a park. Keep the book on the table. Don’t write anything on the wall/ on the front page. লক্ষ্য, উদ্দেশ্য, কাজ, ব্যবসা, বিষয়, সম্পর্ক ইত্যাদি বুঝালে তার পূর্বে on ব্যবহার হয়। This is a book on grammar. He drew a dagger on him. He smiled on her. He came here on the occasions of my birth day. কোন কিছুর অধিকার বুঝাতে তার পূর্বে on ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ I have no money on me at this moment. (with me ব্যবহূত হবে না) নিকটে কোন জায়গা বা সময় বুঝালে তার পূর্বে on ব্যবহূত হয় । যেমনঃ My uncle lives in a house on the main road. Just on a year age, I moved to London. Dhaka stands on the bank of the Buriganga. There are trees on either side of this canal. কোন কিছুর কারণ, পটভূমি বা ভিত্তি বুঝালে তার পূর্বে on ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ On your advice, I applied for the job. He was arrested on a charge of theft. By এর ব্যবহারঃ কোন যানবাহনে ভ্রমণ বুঝাতে তার পূর্বে by ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ I am going to Sylhet by bus. কোন কিছু করার মাধ্যমে বুঝালে তার পূর্বে by ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ She earns a lot by catching and selling fish. He amuses himself by drawing cartoons. বেতন দেওয়ার মাধ্যম বুঝালে তার পূর্বে by ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ He gets his salary by cheque. পরিমাপের একক বুঝালে তার পূর্বে by ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ We buy bananas by the dozen. কোন ব্যক্তি জন্ম বা বৈবাহিক অবস্থা পেশা বুঝালে তার পূর্বে by বসে যেমন: She is an Indian by birth. She is an Italian by marriage. She is a politician by profession. নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের পূর্বে বুঝাতে তার পূর্বে for ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমনঃ He can finish his work by 4 p.m. He ought to get back by tomorrow.
