প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থী বন্ধুরা, তোমাদের সাথে ইংরেজি ‘Grammar’ এর Passage Narration নিয়ে আলোচনা করছি। প্রথমে নিজেরা চেষ্টা করবে, পরে সঠিক উত্তর মিলিয়ে নিবে
1. Indirect speech: He said to me. “ I am very sorry to trouble you, but I shall be much obliged if you will kindly lend me your dictionary.” I am very glad to be of service to you and you are welcome to any of my books that you think of use to you.
direct speech: He told me that he was very sorry to trouble me but he would be much obliged if I would kindly lend him my dictionary. He added that he was very glad to be of service to me and I was welcome to any of his books that I thought of use to me.
2.Direct speech: “Have you offered your prayer today?” I said to my brother. “No. I have forgotten.” he said. “That’s bad.” I said. “We must pray everyday.”
Indirect speech: I asked my brother if he had offered his prayer that day. he replied in the negative and said that he had forgotten. I told him that that was bad. I added that we must pray everyday.
3.Direct Speech:. Mother said to Asif, “ Are you going to school now?” “Yes,” Asif replied. “You have to return home soon because we will go for Eid shopping, “ said mother, “ What a nice idea! Mum, you are great.” Asif said further.
Indirect Speech: Mother asked Asif if he was going to school then. Asif replied in the affirmative. Mother again said that he had to return home soon because they would go for Eid shopping. Asif exclaimed that it was a very nice idea. Asif further said that his mother was great.
4.Direct Speech: My friend said to me, ‘Why are you sitting alone here? I have been looking for you for one hour. Let us go for a walk in the open field.’ ‘Leave me alone,’ I said.
Indirect Speech: My friend asked me why I was sitting alone there. He added that he had been looking for me for one hour. He also proposed that we should go for a walk in the open field. I told him to leave me alone.
5. Direct speech: ‘Why are putting up the food in your pocket, sir?’ asked the nobleman. ‘I am doing ht thing. My dress deserves the rich dishes,’ replied Sheikh Sa’adi. ‘Please tell me clearly what you mean to say,’ said the nobleman.
Indirect Speech: The nobleman asked Sheikh Sa’adi respectfully why he was putting up the food in his pocket. Sheikh Sa’adi replied that he was doing the right thing. He (S) added that his dress deserved the rich dishes. The nobleman requested Sheik Sa’adi to tell him clearly what he (S) meant to say.
