শিক্ষার্থী বন্ধুরা, তোমরা কেমন আছ ? নিশ্চয় ভালো আছ। বিশ্ব এক মরণঘাতি ভাইরাসের কারণে দুর্যোগ মুহূর্ত পার করছে। তোমাদের নিয়মিত ক্লাস স্থগিত হলেও সংসদ বাংলাদেশ টেলিভিশনে নিয়মিত ক্লাস পরিচালনা করা হচ্ছে। এই সময়টাতে ঘরে বসে চর্চা করবে। স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে চলবে। অনুশীলন পাতায় নিয়মিত চোখ রাখবে। আজ আমি তোমাদের সাথে Narration করার নিয়ম সম্পর্কে আলোচনা করবো।
একজন বক্তার বক্তব্য ব্যক্ত করার উপায়কেNarration বলে।
Narration প্রধানত: দুই উপায়ে ব্যক্ত হয়ে থাকে:
I. Direct Speech
II. Indirect Speech
Direct Speech: বক্তার দ্বারা বলা বক্তব্য হুবহু যা quotation mark বা উদ্ধৃতি চিহ্নের মধ্যে থাকে তাকে Direct speech বলে।
Example: He said to his friend, “I like sweets very much”
Direct speech এর মধ্যে দুটি অংশ থাকে:
I. Reporting Speech and
II. Reported Speech
একটি comma (,) এবং দুটি inverted comma (“ ”) এই অংশ দুটিকে একে অপর থেকে পৃথক করে।
I. Reporting Speech: Inverted comma-র বাইরের অংশ অর্থাত্ comma-র আগের অংশকে Reporting speech বলে। এখানে দুটি পক্ষ থাকে, বক্তা (subject) এবং সে যাকে বলছে (object)।
উপরের উদাহরণে, He said to his friend, হলো reporting speech.
II. Reported Speech: Inverted comma-র মধ্যকার অংশকে Reported Speech বলে।
উপরের উদাহরণে, “ I like sweets very much.”- হলো reported speech।
Indirect Speech: বক্তার বক্তব্যের সারাংশ যা অন্য কেউ ব্যক্ত করে তাকে Indirect speech বলে।
Example: He told his friend that he liked sweets very much.
Indirect speech নিম্নোক্ত বিষয়গুলো লক্ষ্য করা যায়:
i. কোনো inverted comma ব্যবহূত হয় না, reporting speech এবং reported speech একে অপরের সাথে conjunction যেমন:‘that’,‘if’ অথবা ‘whether’ প্রভৃতি দ্বারা যুক্ত থাকে।
ii. Reporting speech এবং reported speech-এর মাঝে কোন comma থাকে না।
iii. Full stop বা Period sign ব্যবহূত হয় প্রশ্নবোধক বা বিস্ময়বোধক চিহ্নের পরিবর্তে।
iv. Reporting speech-এর tense আগের মতোই থাকবে।
v. Interrogative, exclamatory, operative এবং imperative sentence-কে assertive sentence- এ পরিণত করা হয়।
vi. Reported speech-এর tense, reporting speech- এর tense- কে অনুসরণ করে। উপরের উদাহরণে Reported verb like- এর পরিবর্তে liked হয়েছে।
vii. Reporting verb, reported speech- এর Sentence- এর ধরন অনুযায়ী বিভিন্ন ধরনের reporting verb ব্যবহূত হয়। যেমন: told, asked, offered, promised প্রভৃতি। উপরের উদাহরণে, told একটি reporting verb যা said-এর পরিবর্তে ব্যবহূত হয়েছে।
viii. Reported speech-এর pronoun পরিবর্তনের ক্ষেত্রে, first person, reporting verb-এর subject হিসেবে পরিবর্তিত হয়; second person, reporting verb-এর object হিসেবে পরিবর্তিত হয় এবং third person-এর ক্ষেত্রে কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না।
ix. Direct speech-এর adverb-গুলোর পরিবর্তন করা হয়।
