ইংরেজিতে প্রায় কাছাকাছি structure বিশিষ্ট অসংখ্য শব্দ রয়েছে যে সবের অর্থ সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন এরূপ কিছু confusing বা বিভ্রান্তিকর শব্দ নিয়ে আমাদের এই আয়োজন।
1. (i) Hard - (কঠোর, কঠিন) He works hard for success.
(ii) Hardly - (কদাচিত্/ খুবই কম) The man hardly comes here.
Note: Hardly শব্দটি কখনোই কঠোরভাবে অর্থে ব্যবহার করা যাবে না।
2. (i) Late = দেরি/ বিলম্ব/ মরহুম
I am late today.
The late president Mujibur Rahman has freed our country.
(ii) Late = (সাম্প্রতিককালে/ ইদানিং) Jisan has lately gone there.
(iii) Later = (সময়ের দিক থেকে দেরিতে) Rahim and Karim started at the same time. But Karim came later than Rahim.
(iv) Latter = (পরবর্তী জন) Both Biva and Nova are good students. But the latter (Nova) is a good singer.
3. (i) Direct = (সোজা, সরাসরি)
Give a direct answer to it.
We went home direct. (পথে কোথাও না থেমে)
(i) Sometimes (মাঝে-মাঝে) = Sometimes we like to visit some interesting places.
5. (i) Passed = (Spent) অতিবাহিত করা) The man spent a long time in Europe.
(ii) Past = (The previous) ( পূর্ববর্তী) Do not Ponder over the past failure.
(iii) Past = (leaving behind/ পিছনে ফেলে) The train went past the station.(iv) past = (The previous life) = (পূর্ববর্তী সময়) We sometimes need to think of our past.
Directly = (তত্ক্ষণাত্/সরাসরি) = The boy went home directly (তত্ক্ষণাত্)He told me directly that he did not like me.
