Narration/Speech
1. The teacher said to the boy. "Do you think that honesty is the best policy?" The boy said, "Yes, sir, I think so," "Then learn to be honest from your boyhood," said the teacher. "Thank you, sir," said the boy. "May Allah grant you a long life," said the teacher to the boy.
Answer. The teacher asked the boy if he thought that honesty is the best policy. Addressing him (t) as sir, the boy respectfully replied in the affirmative and said that he thought so. The teacher advised him (s) to learn to be honest from his boyhood. The boy respectfully thanked him (t). The teacher prayed for the boy that Allah might grant him a long life.
2. The teacher said to a student in the class, "Have you ever gone to Cox's Bazar?" "Yes sir, I went." "Why did you go?" The student replied, "I visited my uncle house and at the same time the longest sea-beach." "Will you take me here when you will visit the next time?" "Yes, I shall take you." 'Thank you" the teacher said.
Answer. The teacher asked a student in the class if he (s) had ever gone to Cox's Bazar. The student respectfully replied in the affirmative and said that he (s) had gone there. The teacher asked him (s) why he (s) had gone. The student replied that he (s) had visited his (s) uncle's house and at the same time the longest sea-beach. Then the teacher asked him (s) if he (s) would take him (t) there when he (s) would visit the next time. The 'student replied in the affirmative and said that he (s) would take him (t). At this the teacher thanked him (s).
3. "Have you killed the rats?" said the Mayor. "Yes, I have," said the piper. "Give me the promised money," "How funny!" said the Mayor. We cannot give you so much money. Take only fifty."
Answer. The Mayor asked the Piper if he (p) had killed the rats. The Piper replied in the affirmative that he had killed the rats and also requested him (M) to give him (p) the promised money. The Mayor exclaimed with wonder that it was very funny. He (M) also said that they could not give him (p) so much money and offered him to take only fifty.
4. "What's your program after the examination?" asked Salam. Kamal said, "I've not yet decided. Can you suggest any?" "Let us go on a picnic," said Salam. "What an excellent ideal I shall certainly join you," said Kamal.
Answer. Salam asked Kamal what his (K) program was after the examination. Kamal replied that he (K) had not decided till then. He (K) asked Salarn if he (S) could suggest any. Salam proposed that they should go on a picnic. At this Kamal exclaimed with joy that it was an excellent idea and ensured that he (K) would certainly join him (S).
5. The teacher said to the students, "Why are you making a noise? You should behave yourself and read attentively. You must obey your teachers." The students said, "We are sorry sir. We will read attentively."
Answer. The teacher asked the students why they were making a noise and told them that they should behave themselves and read attentively. He added that they must obey their teachers. The students respectfully replied that they were sorry and also promised that they would read attentively.
